Post  Glaive Mon Sep 23, 2013 6:22 pm

Greetings Adventurers of Ravenholt. The Court of Cumberland is thrilled to announce that we will be sponsoring a tourney at the November gathering! The tourney, as well as the feast, is the culmination of a week long inauguration of our newest castle, Vehenna's Might.

These are the competitions that will be offered:

Single melee: One-on-one combat with live steel (no spells or alchemy). Single elimination. Only one member of each team may compete.

Single casting: One-on-one casting with live spells. Ninth circle spells are prohibited. Single elimination. Only one member of each team may compete. Displacement is not permitted to level the playing-field.

Team combat:Team on team combat! Mix of live steel and spell. Ninth circle spells are prohibited. You may field any number of members of your tourney team (between 3-5). Single elimination.

Archery: Single participant from each team will be challenged to knock over targets at a distance. Each participant will receive 10 arrows for 10 targets. Most targets toppled wins! There will be a practice bow available for those not skilled in archery.

Scavenger Hunt: Riddles and clues will provide hints as to the object you are looking for! The first team to turn in the most correct items wins! Judged by Sir Becket and Callie.

History: You will be tested on your knowledge of Ravenholt's past. The team to turn in the challenge with the most correct answers, no later than the start of the Saturday feast, wins! In cases of a tie, time turned in will be the deciding factor.

Entertainment: What's your talent? Each team may choose one member to compete in the performance portion of the tourney. Be it song, dance, poem, or your particular talent, we will look forward to being entertained at the conclusion of the feast. Each participant is encouraged to keep their performance under five minutes. The performances will be overseen by a panel of guest judges.

Baking competition: Bring your finest baked goods! One entry per team. The Court of Cumberland will be judging.

Each team may consist of 3 to 5 members. Teams can be a combination of Noble & Commoner. Each competition will have a max value of points. The team which comes in first will get the max value, second place would get max value less one, and so forth. If a team chooses to not participate in a category, they will receive zero points for that category. The most points at the end of the tourney wins.

The tourney outcome will be announced Sunday morning.

Prizes:

First place: a +3 weapon of your choice or a 5 x cloak item (same school). If a person wants to contribute components for additional effects in the weapon, they can.

Second place: 10 mixed components and 40 gold.

Third place: 5 mixed components and 25 gold.

Additional rules:

Magic Items are not permitted for use during any portion of the tourney. Participants may still use their magic weapon, but must pull their strikes if there is a damage aura present.

Cantrips, Scrolls & alchemy are not permitted.

Killing blows are not permitted.

Skills based on your racial heritage (such as mighty blows, nimbleness, rage, resistance, etc.) are not permitted.

Sharing of answers is not permitted during the Scavenger Hunt & History events.

Please seek out a member of Cumberland if you have additional questions.
